YORE LAUNDRY. INSPIRED BY MOTHER NATURE.

Soap nuts are dried fruit berries that fall from the soapberry tree (Sapindus Mukorossi) found in Northern India and Nepal. Their outer shells contain saponin, which creates a natural soap when agitated in water - use them in place of traditional detergents and fabric softeners. They effectively clean, soften and remove odors from your laundry - naturally! They have been used for centuries as a natural way to clean laundry and much more!

clean | soften | remove odors

Yoreganics soap nuts are USDA and EcoCert certified organic... and they are deseeded (unlike some brands - don't pay for the weight of the seeds!)
See below.

hypoallergenic | biodegradable | anitmicrobial | economical | vegan | gluten-free | fragrance free | cruelty free

On the left side is a picture of soap nuts when they are new or unused. The inside glossy portion of the shell or husk is the saponin. When agitated in water, the saponin creates a natural soap!

The soap nuts on the right side are used. The saponin is gone and only a thin paperlike portion inside the shell remains. Now, it is time to compost the soap nuts - since they are biodegradable. The soap nuts can be reused from 4-6 and even up to 9 times before all of the saponin is released!

LAUNDRY DIRECTIONS  *****************************************

PRE-TREAT STAINS
with our STAIN REMOVER for fresh stains or BRIGHTENS & WHITENS for stubborn, set-in stinks & stains (and as a laundry enhancer).

WASHING MACHINES: Standard & HE high efficiency washing machines. HAND WASHING—see below.

PLACE 5 SOAP NUTS (same for HE & std machines)  in the small reusable wash bag provided, tie it closed, and toss it into the drum of your washing machine with your laundry.  Works in cold, warm, hot water  & w/all load sizes.

Alternative option - Use Soap Nut Liquid vs. soap nuts.  Add 1/4 cup concentrated soap nut liquid to wash for HE machines, 1/2 cup for standard machines.  See pg on Making Soap Nut Liquid.

RINSE CYCLE: Yes, your soap nuts stay in your machine for the entire time, including the rinse cycle - they add  extra softness.  Remember, soap nuts are low sudsing so your laundry is not going to be full of excessive artificial fragrances & dangerous chemicals like other detergents.  You’ll be amazed with how clean & soft your clothes will be!  If you are not comfortable with this, you can use the soap nut liquid.

REMOVE bag and set aside for your next load before placing clothes in dryer or line drying. Some customers like to place the soap nuts in something that is larger and easier to spot out of the washing machine - like a mesh delicates bag, an old long nylon or tube sock.

DRYER: If your wash bag of soap nuts accidentally gets tossed in the dryer - don't worry.  They will not harm, stain or rewash your clothes.  Don’t throw these soap nuts away.  If they still have saponin/soap in them, use them again!

REPLACE the soap nuts when they become thin and light tan/grayish in color.  Still not sure?  Place them in a jar with water and shake.   If they still create suds, use them again. If not, toss in your compost or yard to biodegrade.

AVERAGES 5 loads for 5 soap nuts in small wash bag.  It depends upon the type and temperature of water.   Soft water yields more loads than hard; cold water yields more loads than hot.

HARD AND WELL WATER: OPTIONAL STEP: To soften your water a little more, along with the benefits of a laundry enhancer, add Brightens & Whitens (B&W) to your load.  Add 1 oz of dissolved B&W for HE machines and 2 oz for standard machines.

CLOTH DIAPERS: See pg on Soap Nut Uses for additional information.

HAND WASHING: Great for delicates - like silk, wool and cashmere.  Add soap nut liquid to wash basin with water & laundry.  Then agitate for a few minutes and rinse with water.   See Making Soap Nut Liquid pg.
