Comfy Bummy Diapers is about two families committed to having a positive impact on society by living naturally, helping others live naturally especially through cloth diapering, and having their moms home to care for their children. The founders and original owners of Comfy Bummy Diapers, Tim and Mary McCarthy sold their business to Tom & Melissa Moody in 2005. Tim and Mary's story is below, as we want to let you know the history of our 7 year old company which is a substantial achievement in the Cloth Diapering Industry!

Tom & I began looking for a family friendly business where I could still stay home and care for our two girls ages 4 years and 7 months. We were thrilled to find that Comfy Bummy Diapers was for sale: we knew right away that it was a perfect fit for us. We had Home Births with our two girls and have been committed to eating organically and living as simply as possible. Cloth Diapering is a passion of ours as is using baby products that truly keep our children safe and comfy! In keeping with our founders' philosophy, we will add only the products that we have found to be of highest quality and that we have found to help us in doing the very best for our children. To say that this is a WAHM business would only be a part of our story as we are all involved in it. Tom is our CFO, Melissa is our CEO, Sierra is our official shipping inspector and Emily is our official tester! It is so encouraging to work together as a family knowing that we can have a positive impact on our family, your family, and the environment for children's future generations.

More about us:

I (Melissa) graduated from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio with a B.A. in Secondary English Education and Educational Media (Library Science). I taught High School English for 2 years and then was the Media Specialist at an inner city Junior High for over 3 years. I have also worked as a Reading Consultant, a Sales Representative to schools for a book company; but my first love has always been being home caring for my family.

Tom also graduated from Cedarville University with a B.A. in English. He went on to earn his Master of Sport Science in Sport Coaching. Tom has been a College Men's Basketball Coach, Small Business Owner, Business Broker, Professional Painter, and is currently the CFO of Comfy Bummy Diapers. His commitment has always been to care for his family and to be available for them in their daily lives as much as possible.

We love exploring the southwest, especially our beautiful state of New Mexico. We enjoy hiking and camping. Melissa likes cooking and baking. Tom loves to eat her creations! We delight in listening to encouraging, and thought provoking music. We are voracious readers, too. We are thrilled to find that our 2 daughters are turning out to love the same things we love! Comfy Bummy Diapers was started out of a desire to locate the best cloth diapering products available for our first baby. We first thought the only cloth diapers available were the "diapers" available at the mass discount stores, and we wanted none of that (Pins? No thanks!). So after eventually finding some great products for ourselves, we decided to start a mail-order company to offer other parents the same great products.

About the products that we do sell: There are so many great cloth diapering products available now (and there are also not-so-great ones, too). While we would love to add so many more products for you, at this time we are offering parents what we have truly found to work out great for us. We'll be adding more great stuff in the future as we are able to. So keep on checking back here at the website or join our newsletter for updates.

A little background about us: My name is Mary (Mommy) and I'm the main person behind the scenes. My husband Tim is also involved with our business, although he also works full time outside the home. Mary graduated from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and then continued on at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado and graduated with an B.A. degree in Business Administration/Marketing. Tim (Daddy) went to Bemidji State University for one year in Bemidji, Minnesota but found that his true calling was at Copper Mountain, Colorado where he worked for a few years as a Foreman of Lift Operations (a.k.a. ski bum).

Some of our favorite places on the web include: Cheapskate Monthly (a frugal website) LLL (La Leche League) and FlyLady (for help with keeping your house and life sane!). We also love to garden and we are interested in natural/organic foods, sustainable living, all that sort of stuff. We are also Promoters through CCL (Couple to Couple League) for NFP (Natural Family Planning).

We have three energetic sons and they are rambunctious little boys who keep us on our toes! They have all been our "cloth-diaperers" in training. Christian is currently enjoying his Bummis Super Whisper Wraps and Chinese Prefolds, and for nighttime we play it safe with either a Kushies Classics and Aristocrats combination, or Prefold and Polar Babies with a extra doubler. Christian is just getting used to this whole diapering thing, but he's been an absolute joy for us!

Thankfully because of our first son we found that cloth diapering is fun, economical, and really does make a difference! Thank you, our customers, for caring about your decisions. We're happy that you've decided to use cloth and hope that we can help you have a great experience with our diapers. After all, time flies by quickly and soon those "diaper days" will be long gone. Remember to take a moment once in a while and really cherish those times with your own little one(s).
