SO... now that I've made the decision to use cloth diapers on my baby, which diapers do I need?

• Choosing diapers - this can be the most confusing part, but not if you answer the following questions:

What is most important to me?

Economics? - then choose Chinese Prefolds or Flat Diapers like our Comfy Bummy or Plushies Brand with Bummi's diaper covers for daytime and a wool soaker for night-time cover up. Don't forget to get a few extra diaper doublers for the times when you need a little extra absorbency!.

Convenience? For TOTAL convenience, you'll want All In Ones. Just remember that these come in sizes and you will need to purchase new diapers as your baby grows. You may also want to look at the one-size diapers that are adjustable as your child grows...no need to purchase extra sizes.

For hassle-free yet economical diapering, choose from any of our Fitted Diapers.

You can also use a combination of the three kinds of diapers listed above - find the system that best fits your economical and convenience needs.

If you are ready to shop, then check out this handy checklist for everything you need to get started:

1) If you're planning on using the 'prefolds or fitteds with covers' method. Plan on washing every other day:
-- Prefolds: 2-3 dozen
-- Diaper covers: 6-8
-- Doublers: 6-12
-- Nighttime Covers: 2-3
-- Optional: 10-20 Citrus Circles pail deodorizers, 2 Waterproof Tote Bags & 2-3 rolls of Flushable Liners

2) Use this list if you will be using All In One type diapers exclusively? For washing every 2-3 days, you will need:
-- All in Ones: 2-3 Dozen
-- Nighttime Covers: 2-3 Covers & 2-3 Diapers (Kushies Classics work well for nighttime)
-- Optional: 10-20 Deo Disks Deodorizers, 2 Waterproof Tote Bags & 2-3 rolls of Flushable Liners

Which kind of Diapers should I use?

4 Choices:

Prefolds or Flat Diapers

• most economical of the diaper choices
• tend to be bulky between baby's legs
• need to be folded before you put onto baby
• all types need a waterproof cover

Fitteds

• much trimmer than prefolds
• no need to fold, just put on like a disposable
• need a waterproof cover

All In Ones (AIO)

• no waterproof cover needed
• some are not as leak-proof as others - buy one to try first
• only a few work well for night use

Pockets

• liners must be "stuffed" before using and 'unstuffed' before washing
• absorbency can be adjusted by adding doublers
• nice for nighttime because you can adjust the absorbency
• Unstuffed diaper can be used as a waterproof cover

• Remove soiled or wet diaper, shake solid wastes into the toilet
• Wipe baby's bottom clean
• Put clean diaper on
• Put diaper cover on
• Drop diaper into diaper pail lined with a waterproof diaper tote or liner

It's that simple!

WASH DAY

• Throw diapers and diaper tote into washing machine
• Wash or pre soak on cold (this step will keep most stains from setting in)
• Wash on hot or sanitary cycle
• Dry diapers in the dryer, or if you want them to last longer, dry them on a clothes line
